The enclosures have shipped and the new LED mounts are in production!  I intend to offer two versions of the LED mount. Frosted for maximum brightness and black for a sleek, incognito look.  So far, everything is on-track to start offering these for sale in a few weeks!  Stay Tuned!

Hi Everyone!  The first prototypes are in! Everything is fitting and functioning excellent.

I expect to have the assembled shift lights in-stock and ready for sale before end of November.
I anticipate retail price around $250 USD. Although, I was considering offering pre-orders with a discount, anyone interested?  (see below)

I'm also working on a new LED display mount for those that want an off-the-shelf solution.

 Kits are back in stock!
I still have not received the APA102C leds despite ordering months ago. Instead, I found a reliable alternative in the SK9822 led. I will still provide the APA102C as soon as they arrive as the preferred LED.

Also - check out this awesome tutorial video made by a customer!  Shout out to Taylor on YouTube! Thanks!

Temporarily Out of Stock

Hi Everyone,

There's a bit of a delay getting inventory for some of the shift light components. I expect to have more shift light kits available late February or early March. Sorry for the inconvenience.  I am testing some alternatives that might work too. In either case, I'll let you know here as soon as the kits are back in stock.

Shift Lights back in stock

And.. we're back!

New parts are in stock and the shift lights are ready for sale. I've also updated the assembly instructions and zip files to reflect the change.

The new power supply was about 4 times more costly, so I had to increase the price of the kits. But the plus side is it has a little more power: 2 Amps instead of the previous 1.5 Amps. Traco is also known for their high quality power supplies.

Supply Chain

Hey Folks,

Just a heads-up. I had to pull all shift-light kits from the market for the time being while I resolve a supply chain issue. One of the parts. the buck converter, is on back-order until October 2022. I'm working to find a suitable replacement. Until then I've suspended all sales of the kit.

When sales resume, which I hope is within a couple weeks, I will likely need to increase the price to cover the new part (and the general increasing costs of all parts in general).  I'll do my best to keep this to a minimum.  I'll post here when sales resume.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Chippernut Goes Vertical

The applications for an inexpensive shift light never stop to amaze! Treeline Helicopters out of Virginia, USA use the Chippernut Shift Light v3.1 in their Aerial Saw Vegetation Management equipment. The shift light is incorporated in the top part of the saw unit using a custom LED enclosure for easy visibility from the helicopter. This allows for easy, visual management of engine RPM.  The folks at Treeline Helicopters were kind enough to send me photos and video.

Now that's a saw!

For those of you with an unassembled Shift Light Kit, below you'll find a 3D printable drill guide for the rotary encoder on the clear cover. Hopefully this will make locating and drilling that hole easier.
